The contractor/consultant was approved through a competitive bid process for on call services. The Board of Supervisors approved $78,000 in funding for this project at their regularly scheduled meeting on April 25, 2017. The Santa Cruz Ave/Alameda de las Pulgas Corridor Improvement Study was developed in response to input received at a community meeting held on January 23, 2017. Summer 2019 Pilot Project - still in place. An additional community meeting will be held at the end of 2019 to review the refined proposed improvements. This information will be used to develop a recommended corridor improvement plan. Results of the questionnaire and executive summary are listed on the link to the questionnaire and in an executive summary for information only. During the summer of 2018, the Task Force released a questionnaire to all users of this corridor to collect these preferences. Attendees will have an opportunity to weigh in on the range of potential improvement alternatives and share their preferences for the various alternatives. A range of feasible improvements and their trade-offs will be presented to the public on August 28, 2017, at a community meeting. As part of the identification of improvements, the consultant will identify the trade-offs associated with each of those improvements for all corridor users. This analysis will be used to begin developing a variety of possible improvements that could be applied to the corridor. June through July 2017, the consultant will analyze this data, previous planning studies, existing conditions, and collision history to identify roadway improvement opportunities. The consultant gathered additional vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian count information during the early part of May 2017 to ensure the data included school traffic. The County has retained a consultant, Kimley-Horn, to perform the technical analysis and identify feasible solutions. The project is led by the County of San Mateo Public Works Department in collaboration with the City of Menlo Park. The Santa Cruz Ave/Alameda de las Pulgas Corridor Improvement Study project will evaluate possible roadway configuration alternatives along Santa Cruz Avenue from Sand Hill Road to Alameda de las Pulgas, along Alameda de las Pulgas between Santa Cruz Avenue and Sharon Road, and Santa Cruz Avenue from Alameda de las Pulgas to Sharon Road, to determine what safety and connectivity improvements can be achieved for bicycles, pedestrians, and vehicles.
